I’ve had a Pro 8 for a few days now. Unfortunately, I have the problem that the device is not automatically recognized by the Logic 2 software after a restart. I can’t update USB3 drivers because the system says the latest ones are available. Now I have to unplug the device and plug it back in every time so that it is recognized. the usb socket is happy…
I’ve had similar issues on laptops and some USB devices. This may not, be your problem, but, USB ports now have interesting charging capabilities, allowing power to the device, even after the PC has shut down.
Having a USB device powered even after the PC has turned off might confuse the internal state machine of the device, I might not realize that it was disconnected and then reconnected.
I just looked around to see if I can find a solution on line, and found another couple of problems. I know I recently added a Dell that had these issues with a PEMIcro USB/BDM dongle. I fixed it before I used my Saleae, so I can’t say it’s the same issue.
My search term in google was “dell laptop disable USB charging while PC is off”. Try windows, or you PC manufacturer instead of Dell. I see several different naming schemes for the “legacy” or “power suspend” option, and all seem to point to BIOS, but I am sure I fixed it in Windows.
My computer is always completely unplugged, i.e. there is no voltage at the LA. If I switch the computer to standby and then start it up again, it is recognized immediately…
It must be a driver problem or something to do with the Logic software.
exit/restarting the Logic 2 software with the hardware device still plugged in?
something else?
I believe when a logic device is first plugged in, it is in a special boot mode waiting for the firmware over USB. I know I’ve had to unplug/replug in the hardware sometimes to get things to work.
As others have stated, modern PCs may not power cycle the USB port after rebooting or even while sleeping to provide charging power while the PC is ‘off’ … but this feature may only be on certain USB ports, so plugging into a different port can help. Likewise, I’ve had problems in the past that were resolved with a new USB cable, as the old one would intermittently lose the USB connection and confuse the software/connected device state until I unplugged it and/or restarted the Logic 2 application. Once I replaced the cable, the issue was resolved.
So, did you try a different USB port or a different cable?
