I love my Logic Pro 16, but when I wake my newly built PC in the morning, the Logic 2 screen (2.4.40) shows dozens of new session tabs along with “Logic Pro 16 Disconnected” messages. Is it possible this is being caused by nightly backups?
Hi @wallyware,
What operating system are you using?
We have a known issue about this on MacOS, but were not aware of this happening on Windows or Linux. In the case of MacOS, if our software is left running with a device plugged in, and the machine sleeps for a while, when you wake it up there will be many new tabs. This is because MacOS now periodically wakes up in the background and our application can’t tell the difference between this and a regular device connection. (our devices get disconnected while the machine sleeps)
We need to add detection to differentiate between one of these background wake ups and real wake ups.
In addition to sending us your OS information, could you send in the software logs from when this happens? Details on locating logs here:
You can send the logs directly to support, please include a link to this forum post too. Contact Us - Saleae
Sorry for the trouble with this! We’ll mostly out of office for the rest of the month, so I won’t be able to take a close look until January.
Hi @wallyware,
Thanks for sending in the log files. From the logs, it looks like the computer is waking up periodically, after between 5 and 30 minutes of sleep.
If your nightly backup software is able to wake the machine from sleep (i.e. using Windows’ wake timers) then yes, this is certainly a likely source for the problem.
We still need to handle this in the software, but in the mean time, I would recommend either (A) closing the Saleae software at the end of the day or (B) unplugging the device. You can also just restart the software instead of manually closing all the tabs that are opened. (you can hold ctrl+W to close tabs quickly too)
Again, thanks for posting this and I’m sorry for the trouble! We still need to add correct sleep/wake detection to handle this automatically.
